Meghan McCain has spoken out after a guest on Tucker Carlson’s podcast took a jab at her appearance, calling her “fat.” “Apparently, on the latest episode of Tucker Carlson’s show, my weight became a topic of discussion — specifically how ‘fat’ I am,” the 41-year-old wrote in a post on X late Thursday, December 4.

McCain addressed the criticism head-on, writing, “Yes, I am very fat — I’m nearly nine months pregnant with my third child. And I’m also very happy.”

Her response followed a December 3 episode of The Tucker Carlson Show, where commentator Milo Yiannopoulos mocked both McCain and her late father, Senator John McCain, during a discussion about conservative politics and homosexuality. Yiannopoulos questioned whether there was “anything gayer than John McCain’s bloodlust,” before turning his attention to Meghan. He suggested that the senator “even got the fat friend — it’s his daughter,” and added, “He even bred the fat best friend.”

Yiannopoulos continued his rant by calling McCain “America’s most ostentatious f** hag,” claiming, “She hates herself. She’s fat. She’s crazy. She’s every gay man’s dream.”
In her post on X, McCain directly criticized Tucker Carlson, 56, for giving those comments airtime on his widely streamed podcast. “I don’t care how many times Tucker talks about being a Christian — this is not Christian behavior, especially when it’s broadcast on one of the largest podcasts in the world,” she wrote. “This kind of cruelty toward women and hypocrisy is exactly why the right has so many problems with women voters in my generation.”

Meghan McCain Reflects on Years of Body-Shaming as She Nears Third Trimester
McCain noted that online criticism of her appearance is nothing new. “Don’t feel bad for me — people have been calling me fat since I started in media at age 22. It’s old, lazy and tired,” she wrote.
She ended her message with a pointed remark about those who profit from online cruelty. “I don’t make my living off ugliness like that, and I truly can’t imagine what life must be like for anyone who does. It must be very dark. The former View cohost confirmed in June that she is expecting her third child with husband Ben Domenech. The couple already shares two daughters: Liberty Sage, 5, and Clover Jade, 2.
During a June episode of her podcast Citizen McCain With Meghan McCain, she revealed the news privately to guest Usha Vance before sharing it with listeners. “I have two little girls… and I’m just entering my second trimester. I’m pregnant with my third,” she said, later adding that she was “very nervous” about welcoming a baby boy and the challenges of raising three children.
McCain Opens Up About Family Life, Pregnancy Fears, and Her Late Father’s Lasting Influence
McCain and Domenech, 43, married in 2017, one year before the death of her father, Senator John McCain. On a 2022 episode of her Me Becoming Mom podcast, she shared an emotional story about how her daughter Liberty reminds her of her late father. “Liberty does this thing with her hands, and my dad used to do that all the time. I don’t do it — I don’t know where it comes from, but she still does it,” she explained. “I told my mother-in-law it creeps me out sometimes because it’s the same little tic my dad had.”
Reflecting on the bond she had with her father, McCain said his memory continues to play a powerful role in her life. “I loved my dad deeply. He shaped so much of who I am. With my daughter, it’s just pure — she’s perfection.”
